How AI Helps Special Education Teachers Save Time

By Kimberly Barnes, Director of Special Education Learning Experience

As a former special education teacher, I know how much of your day can get swallowed up by paperwork, data tracking, goal writing, behavior plans, lesson planning, parent communication, team meetings and all the administrative tasks that take place before you can even teach.

The Reality of Special Education Workload

In theory, special education is just good teaching. It's about supporting students in meaningful, personalized ways. But in practice, it often felt like I was spending more time behind my computer documenting and discussing support than actually providing it.

This EdWeek video "How Schools Can Use AI to Lighten the Load for Special Education Teachers" highlights something I wish I had in my own classroom: the power of AI to take on tasks that eat away at our time, so we can focus on working with our students.

When used intentionally AI can:

  • Reduce administrative tasks

  • Assist in IEP and BIP writing

  • Support progress monitoring

  • Generate visual resources and multisensory supports

  • Help teachers identify learning barriers earlier

At  HiNAIA, we are doing just that.

Using AI to Support Special Education Teachers

By utilizing AI powered tools, we create individualized learning experiences that are not only personalized but truly accessible. HiNAIA equips teachers with ready-to-use supports that resonate with neurodiverse learners, offering insights on where a student’s learning process breaks down, so you don't have to guess. Implementing targeted accommodations and suggesting interventions you can act on. Providing parents with timely feedback on student progress, so you don’t have to.

We’ve felt that pressure of trying to do it all, all at once. That’s why HiNAIA is designed to reduce paperwork, streamline communication, and free up your time, not just to make your day easier but to deepen your impact. Allowing you to focus on what matters the most: ensuring no student falls through the cracks.

Giving Teachers Back Time, Focus, and Energy

HiNAIA allows special educators to reclaim their valuable time, focus and energy, so they can dedicate their expertise to what matters most: teaching, mentoring, and building meaningful relationships with their students.

At the end of the day, YOU are what your students need most: your expertise, your mentorship, your ability to see their strengths and guide their growth.
